Struggling giants clash in early kick-off

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off sees Tottenham pitting their wits against Aston Villa, with both sides struggling for form.

The transfer window saw several changes for Roberto De Zerbi and Unai Emery, with Villa losing some big-name players, the likes of Morgan Rogers, Ezri Konsa, Ollie Watkins and Youri Tielemans.

Spurs’ window consisted of big-money signings coming in rather than players walking out the door, and De Zerbi said after their 3-1 Carabao Cup midweek defeat at Liverpool that he is sure that it is only a matter of ‘when’ they see the light at the end of the tunnel and not ‘if’.

The north Londoners put up a good performance at Anfield, only to come undone after a stunning strike from Dominik Szoboszlai.

Spurs have drawn two and lost two of their Premier League fixtures and failed to register a goal in the top flight so far.

The Villians have only scored one goal and picked up one point in the league, but they have performed better in the cups, defeating Club Brugge and Coventry City in the Champions League and League Cup respectively.
