Myles Lewis-Skelly remains an option on Manchester United’s shortlist after they toyed with the idea of making a move in the summer.

INEOS ultimately decided against bringing in a left-back before the September deadline, meaning reinforcements will be imperative next year.

Although no formal talks were held with the Arsenal starlet, Lewis-Skelly was deemed a plausible option for United when reports were suggesting he’d be on the move from the Emirates.

He had struggled to nail down a starting role throughout the Gunners’ title-winning season, so he was being tipped to pursue a new venture elsewhere, where he could feature more prominently.

However, the Hale End graduate, 20, made it clear he wanted to stay with his boyhood club into the new campaign and fight for his spot.

Across Arsenal’s opening six matches of 2026/2027 (including the Community Shield), Lewis-Skelly has started six times and racked up 438 minutes on the bench.

As well as the 10-capped England international, the Reds retain hopes they could prise his compatriot, Lewis Hall, from Newcastle United.

Hall committed his future to the Magpies last month when signing a bumper contract, keeping him tied to St. James’ Park until 2031.

It means Newcastle will be under absolutely no pressure to facilitate his sale anytime in the foreseeable future, while also allowing them to demand as high a fee as possible if they ever did choose to cash in.

Weighing in on United’s left-back search, Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan said on the Transfer Talk podcast: “I think they are focused on next summer. Lewis Hall is still very much top [of the list]. I wouldn’t discount Myles Lewis-Skelly; even before the summer, he was someone they really liked.”
