Imminent Joshua Zirkzee offer set to give Man United crucial leverage to trigger major late move

Trouble at Fiorentina is about to open the door for Manchester United to land a reliable Benjamin Sesko alternative.

On paper, Joshua Zirkzee is supposed to be the player the Red Devils rely on when Sesko is unavailable.

However, Zirkzee has never really proven to be reliable when leading the United attack.

Despite being a baller capable of doing things with the ball, he is more of a playmaker than a deadly striker who would score plenty of goals.

While the 20-time English champions can benefit from his playmaking, they would rather have him scoring goals.

This is why United would rather let him go and sign a goal-scoring striker instead. Yet while United hold these transfer ambitions, they are not keen to force Zirkzee out.

They are open to letting the situation play itself out, with the Dutch striker allowed to leave if a suitable offer arrives. Well, an offer could indeed be coming from Fiorentina.

Moise Kean to open door for a Zirkzee Serie A return

According to Corriere dello Sport, Moise Kean is pushing to leave the Viola, wanting to sign for Como and play Champions League football.

His transfer desire has put him on a go-slow: he reported late for training on Wednesday and refused to train. He was fined for it and ordered to train alone, with Fiorentina warning that another such stunt would bring a further fine.

Como, for their part, are trying to sign him, but their offer is €5 million (£4.2m) short of what is needed. Fiorentina want at least a €40 million (£34.3m) guaranteed offer.

Whether the Cesc Fabregas-led Serie A outfit raises their offer remains to be seen. Still, the expectation is that they will, which has Fiorentina already looking for a replacement for Kean.

As for who is under consideration, Corriere dello Sport report:

“Everton’s Beto at the top of their list, but there have been, and continue to be, numerous attempts: a strong bid for Zirkzee and one for Ali Zoma of Nuremberg.”

INEOS will be hoping Zirkzee is the man Fiorentina settle on, and that the strong bid duly follows.

If it does, United could move swiftly to sign their alternative, strengthening the striking department to fire this team towards glory.
