Jesus' Arsenal transfer route closed as suitor turns to £25m-rated Chelsea star

Gabriel Jesus' Arsenal future is in doubt and Napoli had eyed the Brazilian, but have since switched attention to one of Chelsea's out-of-favour frontmen.

Jesus has been at the Emirates since 2022 and, despite being a regular initially, he has fallen down the pecking order and now entered the final year of his contract. His departure could take place this summer but he made it known he didn't want to move to Italy.

Napoli were keen but after being turned down have turned their attention to Marc Guiu at the Blues, reports Sky in Italy. New boss Massimiliano Allegri is keen to bolster his forward ranks after seeing Romelu Lukaku leave for Galatasaray.

Guiu was signed from Barcelona in 2024 but has struggled for opportunities ever since heading to west London. His only regular minutes came in the Europa Conference League, when he scored six goals in seven games as Chelsea won the tournament in 2025.

The 20-year-old was loaned to Sunderland last season but recalled after just 26 days following Liam Delap's injury, however he remains on the outside of the first-team. He started just five games and played only 527 minutes of football under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.

His fortunes are unlikely to change despite Xabi Alonso now being in charge with Joao Pedro the team's first choice striker. This summer they've added veteran frontman Danny Welbeck to provide cover, which leaves Guiu facing a lack of minutes.

The striker is not short of interested parties with Napoli facing competition from clubs in Spain and Germany. Chelsea value the striker at £25m - which would represent a notable profit on the £5m they paid to sign him.

Napoli finished second last season but have embarked on a new era with Allegri replacing Antonio Conte. The Italians have signed Rasmus Hojlund on a permanent deal following his loan from Manchester United but remain keen on more additions.

The Italian side would more than likely need to sell before they can buy and Dutch winger Noa Lang has been tipped to leave. That could free up the funds to pursue Guiu. Napoli and Chelsea have already done business this summer with Benoit Badiashile heading to Italy on loan.
