Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee has turned down the chance to join Fiorentina this summer.

The Viola had submitted an initial loan offer for the Netherlands international, but United had not given the green light as they wanted a permanent solution.

The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Dutchman now has his eyes on a move to Juventus instead.

“Joshua Zirkzee has turned down a move to Fiorentina after €5m loan plus €30m buy option clause proposal sent to Manchester United on Wednesday.

“Juventus have approached Man United tonight for Zirkzee as they did with Newcastle for Woltemade, in case Jonathan David leaves,” the Italian wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Bianconeri have been long-term suitors of the former Bologna ace, and even offered the Red Devils a swap deal proposal to land the 25-year-old.

This news has been corroborated by Gianluca Di Marzio, who disclosed that the team from Florence have gone ahead and signed Beto from Everton instead.

Fiorentina were always aware of the dangers of keeping all their eggs in the same tray, and they have moved swiftly to sign an alternative.

As things stand, Joshua Zirkzee is likely to leave for the Serie A, but whether Juventus can agree a move before the transfer deadline remains to be seen.

So far this season, Michael Carrick has not turned to the United No.11 despite his heroics in pre-season.

It is clear that the head coach does not fully trust the versatile attacker, who has failed to find the back of the net with regularity since his move to Old Trafford in 2024.
