Last-chance transfers: The Premier League talents who urgently need exits before the deadline

Time is running out for transfer business with the deadline fast approaching. As we enter the final stages of the window, there are a number of Premier League names who still badly need a move.

Harvey Elliott - Liverpool

Harvey Elliott has had a miserable time over the last 12 months. This time last year, Elliott was on his way to Aston Villa in a season-long loan deal after starring in England's u-21 European Championship success, earning the Player of the Tournament.

The move was a disaster. Unai Emery did not take to the loanee, who played only 110 minutes ofPremier League football. With a mandatory purchase clause in the loan agreement based on appearances, it meant Elliott spent much of the season on the sidelines as Aston Villa avoided a £35m fee.

He's returned toLiverpool this summer but does not appear to have a future under new manager Andoni Iraola, and needs an exit from Anfield asap.

Joshua Zirkzee - Manchester United

Things just haven't quite worked out for Joshua Zirkzee atManchester United. A £36m signing from Bologna under Erik ten Hag, Zirkzee has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford, with confusion over his best role. He started just five league games last season and has managed only five league goals across two campaigns.

A queue of Serie A clubs are reportedly ready to coax him back to Italy but no move has materialised to date.

Jack Grealish - Manchester City

Enzo Maresca has spoken highly of Jack Grealish since his arrival atManchester City, but it looks unlikely that the winger will be a part of the plan moving forward.

Grealish spent last season on loan atEverton and impressed before a foot issue curtailed his campaign in January. The move to Merseyside brought the best back out in a talent who had lost his way a little at the Etihad, and the Toffees are open to bringing him back. Sunderland and former club Aston Villa are also vying for his signature.

Nathan Patterson - Everton

Everton's right-back issue has been one of the longest-running transfer sagas in the Premier League. Despite a clear lack of options that has seen Merlin Röhl and Jake O'Brien used as auxiliary stand-ins, the only recognised right-back in the squad has still struggled for minutes. It's time for Patterson to move on.

Federico Chiesa - Liverpool

You've got to sympathise with Federico Chiesa. The Italian has barely kicked up a fuss across his two seasons at Liverpool, despite barely kicking a ball. Chiesa has played only 422 minutes for Liverpool since signing from Juventus in 2024 and, at 28, needs to reignite his fortunes.
