Late Cunha equaliser denies Fulham first win of the season

Matheus Cunha’s late deflected equaliser rescued a point for Manchester United and denied Fulham a first Premier League victory of the season at Craven Cottage.
The first half produced 26 shots but no goals, with both sides creating chances in an entertaining opening 45 minutes.
Bernd Leno denied Lisandro Martínez and Bruno Fernandes struck the post for United, while Senne Lammens made several impressive saves to keep out Josh King and Sander Berge.
The tempo dropped after the interval, but Fulham eventually broke the deadlock in bizarre fashion. Calvin Bassey’s shot was saved by Lammens, only for the ball to rebound off Martínez and into his own net.
United pushed for an equaliser, with Leno keeping out efforts from Bryan Mbeumo and Cunha. However, the Fulham goalkeeper was finally beaten in the 89th minute when Cunha’s long-range effort took a heavy deflection off David Affengruber and wrongfooted Leno.
Fulham held on for a point, although new boss Álvaro Arbeloa is still waiting for his first Premier League win. The result moves his side off the bottom, while United rise to 12th but have only five points from five matches.
