Leeds United have spent £34m on Bosnia and Herzegovina defender Tarik Muharemovic, unveiled on Friday afternoon as their second summer signing. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the move, nine days after Harry Wilson arrived on a free, reshapes the club’s likely strongest XI and bench.
Fresh from starring for his country at the World Cup, he joins from Serie A side
Sassuolo
on a five-year deal. He becomes the club’s second most expensive signing, with only Georginio Rutter costing more at £35.5m.
He fills the defensive void left by Pascal Struijk’s move to Brighton this summer in a £20m deal. Another significant departure this week saw former first choice keeper Karl Darlow join Manchester United on a free after his contract ended.
Darlow is the second keeper to depart this summer, following Illan Meslier, who left when his deal expired and has since joined Arsenal as a back-up stopper.
A possible returnee also moved on, with Isaac Schmidt sealing a permanent switch to Young Boys after last season’s loan at Werder Bremen.
Together, Wilson and Muharemovic are significant additions that change the picture of Leeds’ likely best XI and bench this summer. The report sets out an updated view of that depth chart based on completed deals.
