Leicester City braced as Man United ‘progressing with’ Louis Page deal

Leicester City are braced for the possible exit of academy midfielder Louis Page.

According to BBC Sport, Manchester United are progressing with a deal for the 18-year-old, with talks ongoing. Arsenal and Aston Villa have also shown interest.

United and Arsenal were linked earlier in the window, before the noise eased during pre-season. Page featured regularly in Russell Martin's side and came off the bench in Saturday's Carabao Cup win over Northampton.

The Lutterworth-born midfielder broke through last term, making 21 first-team appearances, including five Championship starts.

With just over three weeks of the window remaining, a move could push Leicester towards further midfield reinforcements.

Page is on a professional contract at the King Power Stadium, so Leicester would receive a fee. He could be the latest academy graduate to move on after Jeremy Monga, 17, joined Manchester City earlier this summer.

Monga's switch was not completed until his professional contract kicked in, ensuring Leicester received a fair fee believed to be around £12.5m.

Page had been expected to play a big role in Leicester's rebuild after relegation to League One. Martin has praised the academy's work, with Sammy Braybrooke and Jayden Joseph impressing in pre-season.
