Man Utd announce Carlos Baleba signing

Manchester United have completed the signing of Carlos Baleba from Brighton in a deal worth up to £70 million.
The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a contract at Old Trafford until June 2031, with the club holding an option to extend his stay by another year.
Baleba becomes the latest addition to Michael Carrick’s midfield rebuild, following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos this summer. United have been looking for more energy and physicality in the middle of the pitch, particularly after Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s serious knee injury.
The Cameroon international has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young midfielders since joining Brighton.
Baleba made 31 Premier League appearances last season and helped Brighton secure European football.
The move comes after United previously showed strong interest in Baleba, only to be quoted a fee of more than £100m last summer. They have now managed to get their man for a significantly lower guaranteed fee, with the deal reportedly worth £65m up front plus a further £5m in potential add-ons.
Baleba is currently recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to return around mid-September.
