With England’s World Cup campaign over,
Manchester United
must shift their focus to finding a solution to their
Marcus Rashford
conundrum.
Despite a trophy-laden loan spell with Barcelona, the Catalans opted against triggering the
Mancunian
‘s buy option.
They want another loan, which INEOS are reluctant to agree to. However, the Englishman’s massive salary is a huge problem as the co-owners look to trim a bloated wage bill.
This is the main reason
why Bayern Munich have stayed away
, while the Red Devils are
reluctant to sell to a direct rival
.
Amidst all this, head coach
Michael Carrick
has
extended an olive branch
to the 28-year-old, who is expected to join United’s pre-season training camp after a short break.
While
both parties would prefer a clean break
, the complexities mean a return is very much on the cards, and staying on is a feasible option. This might save INEOS a lot of money, especially with all the talk around
Crysencio Summerville
The Athletic
‘s
David Ornstein
has now revealed that the Carrington graduate’s £40 million release clause has officially expired.
This means any sale will now need to be negotiated, with even Liverpool and Manchester City able to seal an agreement should they wish.
“Marcus Rashford’s £40 million ($53.1m; €47.1m)
exit clause has expired meaning any sale will now need to be negotiated. The 28-year-old, who has been with England at the World Cup, will now, as things stand, return to training.
“Any approaches for the forward will now be considered by all parties, who is otherwise contracted at Old Trafford to 2028. The exit clause was not available to United’s two biggest rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool.
“Sources with knowledge of the situation, who spoke anonymously as they were not authorised to do so publicly, have told The Athletic that the player has turned down proposals, some of them more lucrative than his current deal.”
Turkish giants
have been sniffing about, but
has no interest in playing in Turkiye at this stage of his career.
The best case scenario for the 20-time English league champions would be for the player to impress during pre-season, so as to invite bids from multiple suitors.
Considering the England international still has two years left on his deal, INEOS should ideally try to move him on for his market value of
£34 million
, all of which would count as pure profit.
