Having taken over as City boss from Pep Guardiola in the summer, Maresca has overseen a quite magnificent start to the 2026/27 season.

City went into the September international break sitting top of the Premier League, in the process becoming the only club in the top-flight to have recorded a perfect record of five wins out of five.

What’s more, the Italian has become only the sixth manager to steer his side to victory during his first five league games in charge.

After making a fine start to the new campaign in August, City further demonstrated both our quality and character across a flawless September.

After a hard-fought 1-0 Etihad victory over Coventry City, Maresca’s side then produced a magnificent display to record a famous 1-0 derby win away at Manchester United, despite having been reduced to 10-men after an early red card for Phil Foden.

A memorable month – which also saw the side record a superb 2-0 win away at FC Porto in our UEFA Champions League opener and defeat Norwich 5-0 to begin the defence of the Carabao Cup – then ended in style with a thrilling 5-3 league triumph at home to Sunderland.

In the process, City also chalked up 14 goals across the month, at an average of almost three a game.

Maresca is up against fellow nominees Fabian Hurzeler of Brighton and Hove Albion along with Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola.

Voting is now open with the deadline 12:00 (UK) on Monday 28 September.

The winner will be announced on Friday October 2 at 12.00 (UK).
