Michael Zetterer joins Leeds from Eintracht Frankfurt on three-year deal for five million euros

Leeds United have signed goalkeeper Michael Zetterer from Eintracht Frankfurt on a three-year contract for a fee of five million euros. The 31-year-old is the club’s fifth summer addition and will act as back-up to James Trafford ahead of Sunday’s first Premier League home game against Brentford.
Lucas Perri has joined Torino on a season-long loan. The club said in a statement that Zetterer signed after Friday’s midday Premier League deadline, so he will not be available to face Brentford at Elland Road.
Born in Munich, Zetterer came through SpVgg Unterhaching’s ranks, making 32 senior appearances after debuting at 18. He represented Germany at Under-20 and Under-21 level.
He moved to Werder Bremen in January 2015, with loan spells at SK Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle bringing further first-team minutes.
Zetterer later established himself at Bremen, playing 80 times, before switching to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2025. He made 28 appearances there, including five in the UEFA Champions League.
