Milan’s Pervis Estupinan: Ruben Amorim blocks Aston Villa transfer
Serie A side Milan are waiting to make any major sales this summer and despite clear initial signs of promise, Pervis Estupinan’s move to Aston Villa is falling through.
An agreement between the two clubs was said to be close some weeks ago. The gap between the supply and demand had reduced but now, things don’t appear optimistic.
La Gazzetta dello Sport provide an update. The Ecuadorian has been part of pre-season training for Milan and will soon feature for Ruben Amorim’s side in their next friendly.
The Portuguese himself has decided to block the transfer to Aston Villa, even if a move was indeed close some weeks ago. He sees him as part of the Milan squad and someone who can offer value to the side next season, as he is always keen on working with wing-backs.
This is also Estupinan’s chance to prove himself under Amorim and it is a shot at redemption, after having struggled last season.
Decision can benefit both parties
While this is disappointing for Aston Villa, it could be a great opportunity for Estupinan. Amorim thrives on using wing-backs and this was seen at Manchester United. Morever, the wing-back role also suits the Ecuadorian best and this was seen at Brighton, where Roberto De Zerbi brought the most out of him. The same could happen under Amorim.
