Morgan Gibbs-White out of Carabao Cup rematch with Leeds United as Forest eye response

Morgan Gibbs-White has been ruled out of Nottingham Forest’s Carabao Cup tie against Leeds United at the City Ground on Tuesday night.

As reported by Nottingham Post, the playmaker suffered a slight knee injury in Saturday’s Premier League meeting of the sides and will not feature. The club are hopeful he will be fit for this weekend’s game against Liverpool.

Glasner explained Gibbs-White felt significant knee pain after twisting his ankle when struck on the toe, which left the MCL overstretched, although there is no structural damage. He said it does not make sense to risk the player and that moderate rotation is planned, stressing he does not rotate for the sake of it. He noted the short turnaround of three days between fixtures.

The Austrian framed the cup as a clear opportunity, while cautioning there is no point discussing finals in August. He said the aim is simple for Tuesday, to win and move on.
