Morgan Rogers has described Moises Caicedo as the 'best in the world' following Chelsea's emphatic 5-1 win over Bournemouth. The Blues midfielder, who had been nursing a calf injury, which he suffered in pre-season, made his long-awaited return to the starting lineup at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, and he was back like he never left.

Caicedo missed the opening game of the new Premier League campaign before coming off the bench in the second, where he lasted no more than a quarter of an hour. The 24-year-old was subsequently sidelined for the defeats to Arsenal and Brentford, as well as the draw to Hull City.

He was also left out of the Ecuador squad before returning to training at Cobham at the end of the international break. Having recharged his batteries and recovered from the knock, Caicedo finally made his first start of the season, helping Chelsea bank three crucial points.

The Ecuadorian was back like he never left, instantly raising the roof in the middle of the park. After the game, Caicedo marked the occasion with an Instagram post that had surpassed 100,000 likes by Sunday morning.

"Back with the boys. Back to winning ways. Thank you, God, for everything," he wrote, captioning a carousel of action shots from the match. Among the thousands of comments from supporters was a message from Rogers, who simply said: "Best in the world."

The Chelsea forward's comment garnered more likes (7,500 at the time of writing) than any other under the post. It was, however, closely followed by Pedro Neto's comment (5,500 likes), which read: "He is back [star eyes emoji]."

Caicedo returned the compliment when Rogers posted on Instagram. Shining a light on the performance of Jordan Henderson, the former Aston Villa talisman wrote: "Dubs at home. @jordanhenderson ageing like fine [glass of wine emoji]."

To which the Ecuadorian replied: "What a player [clapping hands and fire emojis]."

The two Chelsea midfielders certainly stole the show at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, but Xabi Alonso was keen to hand Rogers his flowers for his role in the victory. Speaking to reporters after the game, the Blues manager said: "He's young, he's fresh, he's strong, he's quick.

"He's a very complete, modern football player. His availability is very high as well, so that's very, very important. He looks fresh, and he's enjoying it because he connects very well with his teammates.

"He's a great guy, connecting with many teammates, and he's having a great impact, I would say, for the club."

Alonso will hope Caicedo, Henderson, and Rogers can continue their excellent vein of form when Chelsea face Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next weekend.
