Napoli want Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal, but have two big problems

Napoli and Arsenal have discussed the possibility of a deal for Gabriel Jesus, confirms Fabrizio Romano, but as always it depends on sales first and then personal terms.

It is not new that the Partenopei have shown a strong interest in the Brazilian striker, who can play as a centre-forward, on the left or right wing.

According to Romano on his Italian-language YouTube channel, Napoli spoke directly to Arsenal to understand the precise conditions required to complete a transfer.

It would have to be a permanent swoop and not a loan with obligation to buy, because his contract is due to expire at the end of this season.

The Corriere dello Sport claim that a deal could be done for under €20m, while his wages would be in the region of €6m per season.

Having gained that information, Napoli still need to make more sales after Romelu Lukaku to Fenerbahce in order to both raise funds, and free up spaces in the squad.

They would also need to agree personal terms with Gabriel Jesus, which might be trickier than thought because of their salary cap.

If Fenerbahce, Besiktas or even Milan were to step up for the 29-year-old, it would be difficult for Napoli to compete in terms of wages and bonuses.

Curiously, Jesus has the same agent as Napoli head coach Massimiliano Allegri and he has been spotted at the team’s training camp in Castel di Sangro on several occasions over the last week.
