Nico O'Reilly beats Rayan Cherki and Eli Junior Kroupi to Premier League young player honour

Nico O'Reilly has pipped Rayan Cherki and Eli Junior Kroupi to the Premier League young player award. According to L'Équipe, he then edged them again at the PFA awards on Tuesday.

The league's prize was announced in late May, while the Professional Footballers' Association staged its ceremony on Tuesday.

Cherki, 23, and Kroupi, 20, completed their first Premier League seasons with Manchester City and Bournemouth respectively.

The shortlist also included Max Dowman, 16, of Arsenal, Kobbie Mainoo, 21, of Manchester United, and Rio Ngumoha, 17, of Liverpool.

O'Reilly, 21, played 34 Premier League matches for Manchester City last season, and he succeeds compatriot Morgan Rogers on the roll of honour.
