Oliver Glasner warns Nottingham Forest over Leeds United set-piece power

New Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner expects Leeds United to pose a physical, set-piece driven test in Saturday’s Premier League opener at the City Ground, and says his side finish pre-season with belief after back-to-back wins.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds visit the City Ground on Saturday to open the 2026/27 Premier League season. They arrive in strong form after a 4-0 win over Augsburg in their final friendly, their fourth victory in six. Forest overcame Bayer Leverkusen, then beat Brest 2-0 on Sunday.

Glasner left Crystal Palace in the summer to take charge at the City Ground. He felt ending pre-season with victory aids confidence and pointed to improving structure and communication. He also cautioned that the Premier League brings different demands despite encouraging signs.

Glasner highlighted Leeds’ prowess from restarts, something he experienced last season while at Palace. Leeds beat Palace 4-1 in December, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin twice converting at the back post from long Ethan Ampadu throws.

Set-pieces have remained a weapon for Leeds this summer. Calvert-Lewin scored twice from long throws in a 4-2 win over Liverpool, while an Ampadu launch preceded Tarik Muharemovic’s bicycle kick against Augsburg.
