Ollie Watkins completes move to Al-Hilal

Ollie Watkins has completed his £51m move from Aston Villa to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, bringing an end to his six-year spell at Villa Park.

The 30-year-old striker has signed a three-year contract and leaves as Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer, having found the net 91 times in the competition.

Watkins joined Villa from Brentford in 2020 and played a key role in the club’s rise under Unai Emery. He helped Villa establish themselves among the Premier League’s top-six contenders and was part of the side that won the Europa League last season, their first European trophy in 44 years.

The England international scored 108 goals in 278 appearances for Villa in all competitions and earned 24 caps for his country.

Watkins did not feature in Villa’s opening league game against Brighton after making himself unavailable amid uncertainty over his future.

He now joins Al-Hilal, where he will link up with former Premier League winger Crysencio Summerville as the Saudi club continues to strengthen its squad.
