Orlando Magic sign free-agent forward Kevin Knox II

Kevin Knox started in 26 games last season with Windy City of the NBA G League, averaging 22.7 points and 8.2 rebounds.

The Orlando Magic have signed free-agent forward Kevin Knox II, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Knox (6’8”, 215, 8/11/99) played and started in 26 regular season games last season with Windy City of the NBA G League, averaging 22.7 ppg., 8.2 rpg. and 2.5 apg. in 34.7 minpg., while shooting .412 (84-204) from three-point range and .838 (67-80) from the free throw line.

Originally selected by New York in the first round (ninth overall) of the 2018 NBA Draft, Knox has appeared in 320 career NBA regular season games (77 starts) with New York, Atlanta, Detroit, Portland and Golden State, averaging 7.3 ppg. and 2.8 rpg. in 17.5 minpg. He has also played and started in 49 career NBA G League regular season games with Rip City, Santa Cruz and Windy City, averaging 23.3 ppg., 8.5 rpg. and 2.7 apg. in 34.1 minpg., while shooting .408 (153-375) from three-point range.

Knox played and started in 37 games during his only season (2017-18) as a freshman at the University of Kentucky, averaging 15.6 ppg., 5.4 rpg. and 1.4 apg. in 32.4 minpg. He was named the 2017-18 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Co-Freshman of the Year, sharing the award with Collin Sexton. Knox also earned All-SEC First Team honors, as well as being named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Knox will wear #24 with the Orlando Magic.

In addition, the Orlando Magic have waived Ace Baldwin Jr., Ricky Council IV, Jarron Cumberland and Au’Diese Toney.

The Orlando Magic will open training camp on Tuesday, September 29 at the AdventHealth Training Center.
