Raptors' Kyle Lowry receives key to the city in Toronto

Kyle Lowry was presented with a key to the city by Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow to honor his nine seasons with the Raptors.

Raptors legend Kyle Lowry cemented his status as a Toronto icon on Saturday, receiving a Key to the City from mayor Olivia Chow. The longtime Raptor was honored as one of the most accomplished players in franchise history, best remembered for his six-year run alongside DeMar DeRozan and for helping lead Toronto to its first NBA championship in 2019 alongside Kawhi Leonard.

Lowry spent nine of his 20 NBA seasons in Toronto and recently

signed a ceremonial one-day contract

with the Raptors so he could officially retire as a member of the franchise. The Raptors will also honor Lowry by

raising his No. 7 jersey

to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena on Jan. 10, 2027.

During his time in Toronto, Lowry averaged 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game while earning six consecutive All-Star selections from 2014-15 through 2019-20. He was also named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2015-16. He is Toronto’s

all-time franchise leader

in assists (4,277), 3-pointers (1,518) and steals (873) and ranks second in games played (601) and points (10,540).

The six-foot point guard became known throughout his career for his toughness and relentless style of play. Lowry routinely took charges against much bigger players, dove for loose balls and made the hustle plays that helped define his tenure in Toronto.
