Real Madrid progressing on superstar midfielder’s renewal, agreement imminent

Real Madrid’s relatively rough start to the new season has had few silver linings, and Jude Bellingham has been one of them.

After a stellar World Cup campaign, the English midfielder has continued the same run of form with the club and has led the attacking midfield with serious intent. His numbers, needless to say, do all the talking.

Set for a renewal

Over the past month, word has broken out that Los Blancos are already considering handing the player a contract renewal, especially given his quality and consistency on the field.

As reported by Matteo Moretto on Radio MARCA now, Bellingham is set to renew his contract with Real Madrid as early as in the coming weeks.

The two parties have been in talks over the said extension for a long time now, and there appears to be a provisional agreement in place between them over the final terms of his deal.

Needless to say, the club are seriously working on the objective, and the final agreement between them can be reached soon.

Avoiding a risk

Bellingham’s current deal with Real Madrid runs until the summer of 2029, and there is indeed no rush to hurry the midfield star’s renewal.

Part of the reason the club are pushing for it early, needless to say, is their recent experience with Vinicius Jr.

In the recently concluded summer transfer window, Los Blancos struggled to pull off the Brazilian star’s contract renewal given that he had entered the final six months of his deal. Vinicius put his foot down and insisted on better terms, and the club did not have much negotiating leeway.

Given how big an icon Bellingham has grown into, it is thus in the club’s best interest to seal the renewal talks at the earliest.

So far this season, the English midfielder has already made seven league appearances and six starts for Real Madrid and also averages 2.4 key passes per game.

He also has three goals and two assists in the competition at the moment and is the team’s de facto starter in the attacking midfield, and has a strong claim as Real Madrid’s best player of the season.
