Real Madrid star suffers pre-season injury setback

La Liga giants Real Madrid have late this week been forced to contend with a fresh setback on the personnel front. This comes amid the understanding that youngster Endrick has picked up a fitness problem.

Real Madrid are of course currently in the thick of preparations for the fast-approaching new campaign.

With all of the club’s World Cup stars and summer signings alike now back at Valdebebas, José Mourinho and his staff have this week been afforded the opportunity to put their collective ideas across to the entirety of Los Blancos’ star-studded ranks for the first time.

The aforementioned Endrick is amongst this group, eyeing something of a breakout season in Spain’s capital following a productive loan stint in France with Lyon earlier this year.

As alluded to above, though, on Friday, the Brazilian has seen these plans dealt a minor setback. As per a report from Real Madrid insider Melchor Ruiz of COPE:

‘Endrick has a muscle overload; it looks like he’ll miss the Schalke match on Sunday.’

The hope at Valdebebas is that the 20-year-old will nevertheless be cleared to play his part in Real’s La Liga season opener, against Espanyol on August 22nd.
