Report – Juventus Plot Ambitious Summer Move for Manchester United Stalwart

Serie A giants Juventus are reportedly contemplating an audacious summer move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur via Calciomercato, the Turin heavyweights view the Portugal international as a potential marquee signing.

Juventus have kept a low profile in the early days of the summer transfer window. Apart from Zeki Celik’s arrival on a Bosman deal, Luciano Spalletti’s men have only signed Jeff Ekhator from Genoa to strengthen their frontline in the wake of Dusan Vlahovic’s departure.

However, Spalletti is keen to add at least one top player to his bloated squad in the coming weeks. With Teun Koopmeiners and Douglas Luiz widely expected to leave Juventus this summer, the former Napoli boss is eager to sign an elite midfielder. Needless to say, the Bianconeri struggled with creativity last season.

Aware of the problem, Spalletti had hoped to lure Bernardo Silva to Turin. Yet, after failing to secure Champions League qualification, Juventus failed to win the race for the Portuguese star, who has joined Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Our take on Juventus & Fernandes

Despite falling short in their effort to sign Silva, Juventus remain hopeful of capturing the services of another Portuguese superstar. Fernandes, who spent five years in Italy before moving to Sporting CP in 2017, has landed on Giovanni Carnevali’s shortlist.

His contract with Manchester United runs out next summer. But that’s arguably the only thing that can encourage Juventus. In addition to captaining the Red Devils, Fernandes has been a vital part of the team over the past six years.

Only last season, he set a new Premier League record for assists in one season, underlining his unparalleled influence. He’d be a major signing for Juventus, but this move doesn’t seem likely to happen.
