Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed three stars have asked to quit the club amid their woeful start to the season. The north London side have endured a miserable first two games of the 2026/27 campaign.

They were thumped 3-0 by Brentford in their opening match, while they then lost 2-0 to Newcastle on Saturday evening. That form comes after a summer during which they have spent over £300m on new faces.

Speaking after the defeat to Newcastle, De Zerbi confirmed that there could yet be more change before Tuesday’s deadline, with three of his first-team stars having submitted transfer requests.

The Italian said: “Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave. Danso came to me two days ago and he said wants to leave and Pape Sarr, the same but he suffered a small injury but he is almost ready to train.”

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two:

1. Head THIS WAY

Asked if there was any way back for those who had requested to leave, the Italian replied: “I love these players, they are great guys, I have very good relationships, but if they want to leave, they have to bring the solution, the economic solution, to the club, and they can go, and we find other players.”

Spurs could even make more additions of their own before the transfer window shuts. They have been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, albeit the Dutchman appears to have chosen Manchester City instead.

And De Zerbi refused to be drawn on whether his side would be making any more signings. He added: “No, we speak about the game today, it's not the right moment and the right day, otherwise it's like an excuse, no, I don't want excuses.”

“I want to say I believe more than the Brentford game of our project, I believe in our players, I think Marmoush for the first game played very well, it was the first game for Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro, they came late and they are crucial for this team, after the World Cup, after two injuries.

“Sandro Tonali is another crucial player, he is not in the right condition, in the best condition yet, maybe physically, even though he worked with us at the beginning of the pre-season.

“I think if I was positive last season when we were in the Championship, because when I came we were in the Championship, what do you think my thoughts now could be?”

Spurs are back in action next Saturday as they travel to Nottingham Forest, who are winless after their opening two games of the campaign.
