Roberto De Zerbi provides triple injury boost and drops 'crazy' Tottenham transfer hint

Roberto De Zerbi has spoken to the press ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's clash against Newcastle United.

Roberto De Zerbi has suggested that a few players could leave Tottenham Hotspur before the transfer window slams shut. The Lilywhites have forked out well over £300m on new players this summer while recouping almost £150m in sales, yet there's still some work to be done over the next couple of days.

While the Spurs boss finalises preparations for Saturday night's clash against Newcastle United, Johan Lange will be working hard to wrap up any remaining business ahead of deadline day. The Tottenham sporting director has until 11pm on Tuesday night to tie up loose ends.

Speaking to reporters at Hotspur Way on Friday afternoon, De Zerbi suggested that a few players could still leave. The Lilywhites boss said: "Can be possible, out. In the transfer market, it is crazy, and we have to be able to find the players if some players go out to make another player in.

"I don't know. It's different now. The transfer market is crazy. You can't understand it," added the Lilywhites boss. "I didn't expect a transfer window like we have done. I think we can do one player more in one specific position.

De Zerbi also revealed that he wined and dined with the owners on Thursday night. The Italian added: "Yesterday we went to dinner with the owners, Johan and Vinai [Venkatesham], and we spoke about this. All of us are on the same page and a very good connection."

The Tottenham boss also provided a promising update on James Maddison, who suffered a fractured shoulder during the 3-0 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

"James Maddison has not a big problem," said De Zerbi. "Just pain in his left shoulder. He's working, but I don't know if he's available for tomorrow."

The 47-year-old suggested that Mohammed Kudus could be available for selection as well. De Zerbi provided an update on Pape Matar Sarr, too, refusing to rule out his departure ahead of deadline day.

"Pape [Matar Sarr] is good. We have to see in the last days of the transfer market what can happen with him," said the Spurs gaffer. "I've been very clear with all the players.

"If you speak clearly, you can't expect surprises. The players who wanted to leave have left. We maybe have some players who want to leave, and they are waiting; we are waiting for an offer.

"You have to feel proud to stay here. It's an emotional project we are building with new players."
