Roy Keane breaks Man Utd hearts with surprising ’emotional attachment’ comment

Despite his status as a bona fide Manchester United legend, Roy Keane hardly considers himself a genuine club supporter.
The battling Irishman joined the Red Devils in 1993 following his three-year spell at Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder swiftly became a fan favourite thanks to his die-hard mentality and willingness to go the extra mile. He also never shied away from a fight, which made him extremely popular among the 1990s crowds.

Sadly for Keane, his illustrious United career ended on a sour note. A disagreement with Sir Alex Ferguson saw him dropped from the squad. His contract was terminated in November 2005.
The former Republic of Ireland international hung up his boots in 2006 after a short spell at Celtic.

Nowadays, Keane is considered one of the most controversial pundits covering the Premier League, as he hardly minces his words when giving his input, even when he discusses former teammates or colleagues.
In his most recent TV appearance, the Cork native went on to admit his cold stance towards Man Utd, making it clear he isn’t emotionally attached to the club.
“Not too much really. I was very clinical; when I left clubs, I moved on quickly,” said Keane in his chat with Micah Richards on Sky Sports.
What to make of Keane’s interesting stance?
For a player who spent more than 12 years at the club and won 20 trophies, one would expect Keane to be a bit more caring towards United.
The Irishman had already suggested he doesn’t consider himself a club supporter during a recent appearance on The Overlap, much to the surprise of Gary Neville, who had taken his colleague’s allegiance for granted.

While Keane deserves plaudits for his honesty, a section of Man Utd supporters might find this blunt admission hard to digest, especially those who grew up idolising the club captain in the 90s and early noughties.
