Ruben Amorim sizing up late swoop for Man Utd star who’s ‘amazing every time he plays’

Ruben Amorim has reportedly set his sights on a reunion with Manchester United’s Noussair Mazraoui at AC Milan before the transfer deadline.

According to CaughtOffside, Amorim is keen to add the Moroccan to his ranks as he navigates his first season in the San Siro dugout.

Given Mazraoui is tied to Old Trafford until June 2028, plus the option of a further year, United are in a strong negotiating position if they do decide to enter talks.

However, it wouldn’t really do them any favours, especially this late in the window.

The defender was preferred to Diogo Dalot at right-back in United’s season-opener away to Hull City, showing he is in line to play an integral role under Michael Carrick for the campaign ahead.

In addition, his versatility also makes him a hugely beneficial member of the squad – should Luke Shaw sustain an injury anytime soon, Mazraoui would be able to deputise on the left-hand side of defence.

Is it really worth selling Mazraoui?

Whatever fee United think they could command for the 28-year-old means very little if there are no suitable replacements out there.

Entering the market at this stage of the summer with a tight budget would just cause more unwanted stress for INEOS, who are already targeting a left-back and potentially even a striker once Carlos Baleba completes his impending move from Brighton and Hove Albion.

As for Mazraoui, whom Owen Hargreaves claimed is ‘amazing every time he plays’, the defeat to Hull marked his 12th appearance with Carrick at the reins, six of which have been from the off.

In total for United in the Premier League, he has made 58 appearances, 48 as a starter, and racked up 3,913 minutes on the pitch.
