Sancho career lifeline emerges as ex-Man Utd ace eyed for free agent offer

Ambitious Dubai side Arabian Falcons are preparing a pitch for former Manchester United star and free agent Jadon Sancho to join them.

The Falcons are managed by ex-Liverpool and England ace Jonjo Shelvey, and have Leicester City Premier League winner Danny Simpson as a player-coach. When the transfer window slammed shut, Sancho was left without a club having been released by United at the end of June.

Aston Villa opted not to make his loan move permanent, after signing him temporarily last season. It means Sancho is currently stuck in the wilderness of free agency, five years after signing for United from Borussia Dortmund for £72.9m.

Fast forward to the present day, the Falcons are preparing to reach out to Sancho and other big name free agents without a club.

Mirror Football understands the Emirati football club are plotting an ambitious pitch to sway the likes of Sancho towards the club. They have already convinced one former United prodigy Ravel Morrison, who signed last summer and was recently made the captain of the side, to move to the Middle East.

Sancho was linked with moves to Fiorentina and Roma, although neither club opted to sign him. He has also been linked with a surprise move to Brazilian side Palmeiras.

The former England international, who scored three goals in 23 international caps for the Three Lions, has played for four clubs in the last three seasons, including the appearances he made for United in the 2023-24 campaign

He had an emotional return to Dortmund on loan in the 2024 January transfer window and even played in the Champions League final at Wembley Stadium, which the German heavyweights lost 2-0 to Real Madrid.

After Dortmund opted not to sign him permanently, he spent a season on loan at Chelsea, where he won the Europa Conference League. A permanent move to Stamford Bridge not only didn't transpire, the Blues paid a £5m penalty fee to United to pull out of an obligation to sign him for £25m.

Villa were the next club to take him on loan, but he struggled to carve out a regular starting place in Unai Emery's team. He only contributed one goal and three assists in 39 appearances, although he did finish the campaign with a Europa League winners' medal.

The Falcons are hoping the prospect of living in Dubai, which also offers tax-free earnings, and the club's top quality facilities may be enough to sway the likes of Sancho. The forward has a history with the popular Emirati city, having previously flown out there to recover from injuries in the past.

He is not the only big-name player who is without a club. Former England team-mate Raheem Sterling also failed to find a new team in the summer, as did ex-United colleague Paul Pogba and many others.
