Should Liverpool be spending £122m on Bradley Barcola transfer after Newcastle issues

Liverpool's draw at Newcastle last weekend exposed the flaws in their team and they've responsed by agreeing a deal for Bradley Barcola - the PSG winger they've chased all summer.

The Reds began last Sunday with a front line of Alexander Isak, who had Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha either side, with Florian Wirtz operating as the team's playmaker. The German was hooked on the hour after another indifferent display with Gakpo, the man most heavily linked with a move away, proving to be their best performer.

The imminent arrival of Barcola, in a reported £123million deal from the Parisians, would leave Andoni Iraola with three £100m plus players in his forward line.

That investment comes despite the stalemate at St James' Park exposing a lack of balance in the Liverpool midfield - with both Newcastle goals coming on the counter. Questions also remain over their two full-backs, who excel going forward, but still have to prove themselves defensively.
