Manchester United’s
Solomon Honor
has completed a season-long loan move away from the club. The goalkeeper will join National League North side Southport FC to gain experience throughout the season.
A recent signing for United, the 20-year-old only
joined the club in February
and slotted into the Under-21s setup for the latter part of the season.
Southport confirmed the move on their social media channels, saying “Welcome to Southport football club
.”

Tweet:
“Welcome to Southport football club
. Standing at 6ft5, 20-year-old goalkeeper
arrives as a young shot-stopper with experience in elite academy football.
“An England youth goalkeeper, developed through Blackburn Rovers before joining Manchester United’s U21 setup, adding further experience in a high-performance environment. Let’s get to work.”
Signed from Blackburn Rovers and previously with Manchester City, Honor joined a large group of goalkeepers at the club. Such are the options in the position that Honor has yet to make an appearance for the club, settling for a bench role with Adam Lawrence’s Under-21s behind Will Murdock.
Further loans for Manchester United’s young goalkeepers can be expected, with Radek Vitek attracting the most interest, but he will first take part in the first team’s pre-season tour.
Another young goalkeeper with his future up in the air is Elyh Harrison. The England Under-20s international has been training with Michael Carrick’s squad but was not included for the trip to Finland to play Wrexham.
With a stellar loan at Chester under his belt, a disappointing loan at Shrewsbury followed last season for the former Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year.
Solomon is not the only Honor on the books at
Manchester United
, as his younger brother Zico is also a goalkeeper who is moving into the Under-15s age group for the upcoming season.
Familial connections run deep in United’s academy, with a number of the club’s new
2026 scholar class
having siblings in the academy ranks.
Most notably, Gazik Ibragimov has stepped up to join his brother Amir Ibragimov this week in Germany for the Under-18s and Under-21s pre-season. Siblings are not the only ones making a name for themselves in the academy; the sons of
Wayne Rooney
and
Michael Carrick
are also among the top of the scholar intake group.
