Sunderland submit loan bid for Manchester City’s Jack Grealish

Sunderland have submitted a loan offer to sign Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, with City asked to cover part of his wages and an option to make the move permanent next summer when his contract expires. According to NY Times, the proposal is now with City.

The 30-year-old has come on as a second-half substitute in City’s first two matches this season, the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth.

Sunderland are also pursuing Marseille winger Igor Paixao. Personal terms for the 26-year-old Brazilian are not thought to be an issue, though there is no agreement between the clubs yet.

Preparing for the Europa League, Sunderland have added full-backs Thomas Meunier and Dayann Methalie, plus midfielder Jules Ahoka, to Regis le Bris’s squad.

City have sold winger Savio to Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth up to £85million, and agreed a loan with obligation for forward Omar Marmoush to also join the north London club this summer. The Athletic reported in June that City would consider letting Grealish leave on loan or permanently.

Grealish spent last season on loan at Everton, where a stress fracture in January curtailed his campaign. He made 22 appearances under David Moyes, registering two goals and six assists, and Everton did not take up an option to buy in the region of £50m.
