Teammate backs Raya to win goalkeeper award at Ballon d’Or

David Raya has won the Premier League’s Golden Glove in each of the seasons he has played for Arsenal, and he helped them win the Premier League title at the end of last season. The Spaniard has also established himself as one of the leading goalkeepers in the world since moving to North London.

Raya has now been nominated for this year’s Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper in the world. His performances for Arsenal have put him among the contenders for the individual award, with his consistency and importance to the team strengthening his case.

Raya’s achievements with Arsenal

The Spaniard was in the Spain squad that won the World Cup, although he is not a starter for his national team and did not play enough for that to be credited to him. His role with Spain has therefore been different from his position at Arsenal, where he has become an important player.

Raya has also won the Premier League title and reached the final of the Champions League. With those achievements alongside his performances for Arsenal, there is a strong case for him to be considered among the leading candidates for the award this year.

The Yashin Trophy will be decided by a vote, meaning individual voters will cast their ballots based on how they feel. Raya is certainly one of the best goalkeepers in the world now, and Kepa Arrizabalaga has backed him to win the award.

Kepa praises Raya’s consistency

Kepa has highlighted the work Raya puts in every day and the consistency he has shown during his time at Arsenal. The goalkeeper also pointed to the Spaniard’s Golden Gloves and the crucial saves he has made for the team.

Kepa said via Football London:

“I see all the work he puts in every day.

“He has shown over the last three to four years at Arsenal how consistent he is.

“The Golden Gloves, the crucial saves, how important he is for the team. He should be in the conversation to win it.”
