The four players Chelsea are tipped to sign on transfer deadline day

Time is running out for Chelsea to wrap up their summer transfer business - though the Blues are expected to get plenty of deals over the line in the coming hours

It has been another whirlwind summer transfer window for Chelsea - and their business isn't finished yet. With just a few hours remaining before the deadline, the Blues are expected to remain busy.

Much of their activity is likely to focus on departures, with Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, Tosin Adarabioyo and Robert Sanchez among those who could leave either permanently or on loan. However, Xabi Alonso's side could still make one or two significant additions before the window closes.

This is especially true if Fernandez is sold to Manchester City. Chelsea have made it clear the Argentina midfielder will only be allowed to leave if City's offer is more favourable than the £120million deal structure they made available to potential suitors earlier in the window, and if the club can secure a suitable replacement or two.

With that in mind, here are four players who could be heading to Stamford Bridge today as the clock ticks towards the 11pm deadline.

Lamine Camara

After weeks of relatively muted speculation, Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara emerged as a serious contender to replace Enzo Fernandez towards the end of last month.

The 22-year-old Senegal international is a dynamic, all-action box-to-box midfielder in a similar mould to Fernandez. While he does not offer the same goal threat as the Argentina international, Camara brings greater defensive bite as well as tireless energy.

Sky Bet currently make the Senegal international an 8/13 favourite to join Chelsea before the deadline.

Manu Kone

The 25-year-old is more defensively minded than Enzo Fernandez, but his energy, strength and willingness to drive forward make him a potentially useful addition to Alonso's midfield. However, a deal is complicated by the fact that Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini is a massive fan of the Frenchman.

Intriguingly, Sky Bet are offering odds of 2/9 on Kone joining Chelsea in the coming hours - slightly shorter than their price on Camara making the move to Stamford Bridge.

Alex Scott

Bournemouth have been adamant that Alex Scott is not for sale this summer and, while Chelsea's interest in the Englishman appears to have cooled in recent days, a late move cannot be ruled out until Big Ben strikes 11pm tonight.

The former Bristol City midfielder is technically assured and press-resistant, with the intelligence to operate in a number of midfield roles and the energy to contribute both in and out of possession. If Chelsea's need is great enough, they may return with an offer capable of testing Bournemouth's resolve.

According to Betano, Scott is priced at 4/5 to join Chelsea before the deadline.

Adam Wharton

A deadline day move for Adam Wharton looks, at first glance, like a non-starter. However, there could yet be a twist in the tale. The Crystal Palace midfielder has been touted for a potential move to a Premier League giant for some time, but the club's £100m valuation has so far prevented a deal from getting off the ground.

Like Bournemouth with Alex Scott, Palace have insisted Wharton will not leave before the transfer window closes. However, Chelsea's relationship with the Eagles has improved significantly in recent weeks, meaning a late departure cannot be completely ruled out.

Intriguingly, Chelsea recently accelerated a £41m deal for Atalanta defender Honest Ahanor before pushing the transfer back to 2027 and effectively arranging for him to join Palace on loan. The move was prompted by Premier League rules preventing Chelsea from loaning two players to the same club in one window, with Axel Disasi already at Selhurst Park.

Conspiracy theorists, then, might wonder whether Ahanor's surprise move to Palace could be part of a bigger picture - perhaps with the Eagles returning the favour by sending Wharton in the opposite direction. It is probably nothing more than a coincidence. But on deadline day, stranger things have happened.

According to Ladbrokes, Wharton is priced at 3/1 to join Chelsea today, reflecting the relatively low likelihood of a deal being completed.
