THE LAST DANCE: 5 transfer options for Vardy as Leicester legend prepares for final challenge

A late-career move abroad followed by a Netflix documentary and his own podcast. It's the kind of sequence that would coincide with a footballer's retirement.

But Jamie Vardy isn't hanging up his boots yet. The former England striker plans to continue playing at the ripe age of 39, with offers on the table from both sides of the Atlantic.

Vardy's 13-year association with Leicester came to an end last summer before he moved to Cremonese in Italy. The veteran scored seven Serie A goals before his contract expired June.

Now it's time for his next chapter - and it could be the last of his remarkable career. With that in mind, here are five options for Vardy as decision time looms.

To get it, it's a quick and easy one-two:

1. Head THIS WAY

Headlines were made over the weekend when one of South America's biggest clubs approached Vardy. Brazilian giants Sao Paulo reportedly want the Leicester hero to join their attack, reaching out to gauge his interest.

Vardy is assessing his options and doesn't appear to be in a rush, but Sao Paulo need reinforcements now after going six games without a win. He'd play alongside ex-Premier League stars Lucas Moura and Cedric Soares if he made the move.

If Vardy wants to go abroad again, then perhaps Major League Soccer would be a more appealing move, particularly for his family. With no language barrier, a similar culture and plenty of English stars already across the pond, it could be a perfect fit.

Sky Sports report that at least one American club are keen on Vardy, who already has business interests in the USA. In 2021, he became a co-owner of the Rochester Rhinos, later rebranded as Rochester New York.

A lot closer to home, West Ham are understood to be interested in Vardy. Nuno Espirito Santo's side are bidding to gain promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and could do with Vardy's know-how.

He was part of the Leicester squad that tore the Championship to shreds in 2024, scoring 18 goals. Vardy could well take the burden off Jarrod Bowen's shoulders.

No team is closer to home for Vardy than Sheffield Wednesday, of course, and wouldn't it be a fairytale for him to end his playing days at Hillsborough? Wednesday's new owner, David Storch, has made no secret of his willingness to make an emotional homecoming happen for Vardy, who grew up supporting the Owls and even played in their academy.

Appearing on talkSPORT, Storch confirmed: "Yes, Jamie is somebody that we would like to have in our club. Let's just say he'd be somebody that we would be thrilled to have.

"Unfortunately, we do have these restrictions. We're trying to figure out how to get get around the restrictions to put something in front of Jamie that would make sense for him."

Linked with a move to Ibrox a year ago, could it happen this time around? There have been no concrete reports so far this summer that Rangers are interested in Vardy, but new manager Derek McInnes has just been hit with a hammer blow to his forward line.

Youssef Chermiti has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury, almost certainly ruling him out of the remainder of the 2026-27 season. Rangers' poor start to the season has the board under pressure to make signings before deadline day, and Vardy might be an option given his free agent status.

If you thought that Leicester would come up on this list, sorry to disappoint. Vardy confirmed on the first episode of his podcast that he wouldn't be returning to the King Power Stadium.
