He leaves Cape Verde and becomes the new head coach of RS Berkane
Pedro Leitão Brito, better known as Bubista, has decided to end his ties with the Cape Verde national team after reaching a definitive agreement to become the new coach of RS Berkane, in Morocco's top division. Bubista has signed with the African club until 2028.
The 56-year-old coach thus concludes one of the most brilliant and impactful eras in the history of Cape Verdean football, which began at the start of 2020. Under his command, the "Blue Sharks" not only established themselves as an emerging power on the African continent, but also achieved an unprecedented feat: qualifying for the final stage of the 2026 World Cup for the first time in their history.
At the global tournament, the island team caused a surprise by advancing past the group stage and reaching the round of 32, where they were eliminated after putting up a tough fight against the Argentina national team.
