Playing 12 seasons out in Dallas, Derek Harper was a menace defensively and leads the charge here in this category. The point guard had four seasons where he averaged at least two steals per game, and he made the All-Defensive second team twice in his Dallas tenure.

The franchise legend is either No. 1 or toward the top of most of the statistical categories in the Mavericks’ history. Although he wasn’t known as a defender, he played 21 seasons with the Mavs and spent a significant amount of time on the floor in his Hall of Fame career.
