Tottenham join race to sign £80m Arsenal and Man City transfer target

Tottenham have joined Arsenal and Manchester City in the race to sign Everton midfielder Illiman Ndiaye, according to reports.

Spurs have spent lavishly this summer, with City duo Omar Marmoush and Savio the latest to arrive to bolster their attacking options.

The club have now spent well in excess of £300million over the summer window, but are still keen to sign one more wide attacker ahead of the transfer deadline.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have long been linked with a move for Cody Gakpo , who faces an uncertain future at Liverpool given the impending arrival of Bradley Barcola.

But French outlet Foot Mercato now report that Spurs are also considering a move for Ndiaye, who has turned down the offer of a new contract at Everton.

The report adds that a deal for Nidaye could see Richarlison go the other way and return to the Merseyside club four years after leaving for Tottenham.

Speaking about his side’s transfer plans on Friday, De Zerbi said: ‘I didn’t expect a transfer window like we have done.

‘I think we can do one player more in one specific position.

‘Yesterday we went to dinner with the owners, Johan [Lange, sporting director] and Vinai [Venkatesham, chief executive] and we spoke about this. All of us are on the same page and a very good connection.’

Ndiaye appeared destined to move to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer, with a move to Al-Hilal all but agreed before the winger performed a late U-turn.

The 26-year-old is keen to stay in the Premier League , with City said to be leading the race to sign the Senegalese international after the aforementioned departures of Savio and Marmoush.

Arsenal have also been credited with interest in Ndiaye, although the Gunners view Julian Alvarez as their number-one target if they are to make an attacking signing in the coming days.

Additional reports suggest that Everton will demand a fee of around £80m to let go of their prized asset this late in the window.

Asked about interest in Ndiaye, Everton boss David Moyes said on Friday: ‘We’re certainly not in a hurry to sell our best players, that’s for sure.

‘As far as I know, we’ve got nothing to be concerned about, we’ve had no contact from any club. Somebody told me we had contact with Al-Hilal during the summer, we had nothing from them.

‘There’s a lot stuff that floats around which is not always true. Maybe this is true but certainly the stuff previous wasn’t.’
