Tottenham XI Roberto De Zerbi must pick vs Newcastle as Savio and Omar Marmoush start calls made

Tottenham are back in Premier League home action for the first time since they beat Everton on the final day to preserve their top-flight status.

Roberto De Zerbi's side also racked up their first victory of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after demolishing Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Now a response to last weekend's defeat to Brentford is needed and De Zerbi has plenty to deliberate regarding his starting XI.

Savio is pushing to feature from the off while fellow new signing Omar Marmoush is available after sealing an initial loan from Manchester City.

Finally De Zerbi has options galore in various areas of the pitch with his two new boys from Manchester City pushing to make their first starts as they have both been involved pretty heavily in their previous club's pre-season.

In the back four, Pedro Porro will be looking to start after getting half an hour under his belt on Wednesday night. Micky van de Ven did the same but has played less minutes this summer so might start on the bench again while Destiny Udogie could be managed after his strong showing in midweek with Andy Robertson getting the start.

In midfield, De Zerbi might be tempted to play Sandro Tonali and Rodrigo Bentancur alongside each other with Mateus Fernandes just ahead of them with Conor Gallagher and Lucas Bergvall unable to impress in recent games.

Up top it's all about whether Marmoush and Savio are ready to be thrown in from the start. Dominic Solanke staked his claim to keep his spot with his goal on Wednesday night while Mohammed Kudus could be on the bench after returning to full training.

There are plenty of tough selection calls for Roberto De Zerbi to make against Newcastle - which is only a good thing.

A number of players caught the eye in midweek against Charlton and there could still be movement in the transfer market over the coming days.

I'd go with Antonin Kinsky in goal and bring Pedro Porro back in at right-back following his Charlton cameo.

I'd then stick with Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi for now with Andy Robertson returning at left-back.

Then there should be a change from Brentford in midfield with Mateus Fernandes coming in to partner Sandro Tonali.

I'd then bring Savio in on the right, Omar Marmoush as a second striker with Mikey Moore on the left following his goal against Charlton.

I'd also give Dom Solanke a chance to start again in attack in place of Richarlison.

I'm realistic enough to know this is an unlikely team but I think it's an exciting one that could cause Newcastle big problems.
