Trail Blazers and Kings unveil jersey band to honor Rick Adelman throughout 2026-27 season

The tribute honors Rick Adelman’s immense impact on both franchises.

The Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings will honor late Hall of Famer Rick Adelman with a band on their jerseys throughout the 2026-27 season, the teams announced today. Adelman passed away on June 1, 2026, at the age of 79.

Adelman was a member of the inaugural Trail Blazers team and later led the franchise to Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992 as a coach. With the Kings, he guided the organization to eight consecutive playoff appearances and a franchise-record 395 regular-season victories. He also played for the Kansas City-Omaha Kings during the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons.
