Manchester United Women had some very special news to share yesterday afternoon.

Hannah Blundell made history when she became the first player for the club in the senior era to return to the pitch after giving birth and returning to action in November last year.

The defender now plays her football for Everton after making a permanent switch this summer.

Current United Norwegian star Celin Bizet recently gave birth to her baby in June and is currently on maternity leave.

Fridolina Rolfo

Fridolina Rolfo signed for United last season after leaving FC Barcelona as a free agent and played a key role in the club’s run to the Champions League quarter-final in their inaugural season in the competition.

The club’s official website shared Rolfo’s amazing news yesterday when they reported, “the United family is growing and we couldn’t be happier. Yes, United Women star Fridolina Rolfo has announced she is pregnant! The Sweden international and two-time Champions League winner informed the squad at Carrington earlier this week.”

The club had cameras gathered in the team’s briefing room as Rolfo announced her news to the whole team.

Speaking in front of her team, a clearly delighted Rolfo said, “it’s been hard lying for such a long time but I think you might know what I’m about to say. To be lying in the gym the whole time, I’ve been lifting like 10 kilos in bench press, bending and doing nothing.”

She also joked that her teammates Simi Awujo and Emma Watson have been working really hard and judging her for doing so little.

Rolfo concluded by stating, “but I’m super happy and yesterday I was in the hospital and I got really positive news… I am pregnant! It is crazy and thank you so much.”

Celin Bizet could also be seen amongst the group with her newborn baby.
