The long-awaited Zinedine Zidane era with the French national team began tonight away to Türkiye and 54 minutes later, the first goal of the new era was scored.
And it came via the most obvious source.
The Turks only had themselves to blame too, gifting the ball to France after some questionable play from the back.
Michael Olise provided yet another assist for his country, slipping the ball towards Kylian Mbappé on the left-hand side of the box. The Real Madrid man did the rest for his record-extending 64th goal for his country.
Worryingly, the national team captain appeared to injure himself in the scoring of the goal and was immediately substituted for Désiré Doué.
Zidane will be hoping it is only precautionary for his main man, who continues to make his case for the Ballon d'Or.
