Will Liverpool Win A PL Title Now That Man City Have Been Found Guilty Of Breaching FFP Rules?

In a recent report, the Athletic revealed that Manchester City have been found guilty of violating the Premier League’s 114 of 115 Financial Fair Play regulations. After a verdict was reached by an independent panel, the Mancunian club were found to be at fault for breaching all but one of the Premier League FFP rules. However, any official sanctions are yet to be finalised.

The Etihad-based outfit remain determined to prove their innocence, but the formal process regarding their charges are still ongoing. Following an investigation into reported breaches between 2009 and 2018, Man City were found guilty. During that period, the Mancunian club lifted three Premier League titles. However, only time will tell whether they get stripped of any of their league titles when the sanctions are determined.

Liverpool Finished In Second-Place Once Between 2009 and 2018

Liverpool secured a runners-up finish once in Man City’s title-winning seasons between 2009 and 2018. In the 2013-14 campaign, the Reds finished with 84 points, just a couple of points short of first-placed Man City. Hence, the Merseyside club would be keen on hearing about any sanctions imposed by the Premier League following the Mancunian club’s guilty verdict.

Liverpool could potentially win one more league title, which would take their total tally to 21. The lure of having another Premier League trophy in their cabinet could be too lucrative to turn down for the Merseyside club.

Will Liverpool Win One More Premier League Title Following Man City’s Guilty Verdict For FFP Breach?

Liverpool would fancy their chances of bagging another league title if the Premier League decide to make an example of Man City after their 114 FFP breaches.

The sheer amount of violations could see the Mancunian club get a heavy points-deduction. Relegation to the lower leagues of English football and stripping them of their league titles, might also be on the cards if Man City fail to prove their innocence.

Either way, the Reds should consider launching an appeal to overturn their runners-up finish from the 2013-14 season. The Liverpool fans are proud of their history and having another league title in their cabinet would only help the Merseyside club attract more top players and build towards a brighter future.
