Jordan Pickford
has asked
England
fans to forget the history and focus on the football ahead of England’s World Cup semi-final with Argentina. The England goalkeeper has sounded a similar note to Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, who urged calm ahead of the match in Atalanta.
It follows police launching an intensive security operation around the match due to the rivalry between the two countries, which dates back to the Falklands War and the Hand of God moment. Read more from Mike Keegan by clicking

Elsewhere,
Argentinian press have speculated England star Jude Bellingham may be carrying an injury
, after he was seen clutching his shoulder and grimacing while walking through the mixed zone after the Three Lions' quarter-final win over Norway.
Bellingham previously suffered from a
dislocated shoulder and underwent surgery last summer to repair that injury.
France have been given further motivation ahead of their semi-final with Spain, after former
Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy implied none of the team are French because so many are people of colour
. Spanish players have been forced to disown the statement ahead of their clash with France.

It's tempting to reflect wistfully on how it's almost over now. So much of the carnival has gone and Curacao, DR Congo and Cape Verde already seem a distant memory.
But the World Cup has made its physical imprint in so many ways - the cheesy, pun-laden advertising, the art galleries which have made themes out of it, and the endless cheap souvenir product lines. It means there will be vestiges of the 2026 World Cup when next summer comes around.
Nowhere is the evidence of this as emphatic as in Downtown Dallas.
When I joined the hundreds of people waiting here for a glimpse of the French team walking from their team hotel to team bus, today, I met a woman aiming to add a clip of Mbappe and Co to those of the Argentinians, Portuguese and Dutch, whom she'd videoed leaving the same hotel.
'I'll miss this World Cup vibe so much when it's gone,' she told me. It lives on in artwork like this one, called 'Dallas Seven' depicting seven local sports teams, commissioned from a local artist to mark the summer that soccer came to town. There's a very real sense in which the tournament will live on.

Something you might have missed in the aftermath of England's quarter-final victory in Miami.
Former England captain David Beckham had been spotted watching in the stands and kicking every ball as the Three Lions battled into the semi-finals.
Beckham had earlier visited the team as they prepared for the match at the training base of Inter Miami - the MLS team owned by the former England hero.
England social media have revealed the moment Beckham was presented with his legacy cap. The caps are being given to every player who has represented England, featuring their distinct number in history.
Beckham, who has the legacy cap 1,078, was presented his by England captain Harry Kane.
'Thank you to the manager , our captain and the whole team for this honour ❤️ very special,' Beckham wrote on social media.
Norway might have been knocked out of the World Cup by England, but their memorable tournament is still producing viral moments.
Having arrived back home in their capital city Oslo on Monday afternoon, Erling Haaland and Co were first taken to the Royal Palace to be congratulated on their performance by King Harald.
The team then took part in a public celebration attended by thousands of fans.
And of course, they performed the Viking Row that became famous during their run to the World Cup quarter-finals.
Crown Prince Haakon was on the drum this time as the team and the public rowed together.
Haaland grabbed the attention as the Norway superstar walked off the plane after their arrival back in Oslo.
A Dolce & Gabbana bag, costing a reported £28,000 was over one shoulder, but the eyes were drawn to the taxidermy of a raccoon carrying an empty whisky bottle in his left hand.
The bizarre souvenir was bought by Haaland from Wild Bill's Western Store in Dallas, where the star stopped off with the aim of buying a cowboy hat after Norway's last-32 win at the tournament.
The 'Whiskey Raccoon', costing £560 has already been sold out on the store's website.
The store have gone big on Haaland's visit with his image now adorning the front of their website with the striker seen wearing a cowboy hat and boots, as well as a T-shirt reading 'Y'all can kiss my Dallas'.
The T-shirt on the website, which is now promoted with Haaland's image, costs £24.99.

You don't need to tell England fans about the Three Lions' reliance on
Jude Bellingham
and Harry Kane at this World Cup.
The duo have been responsible for 12 of England's 13 goals at this World Cup.
Opta state it is the highest ratio (92 per cent) of goals scored by two players for a nation in World Cup history (10+ goals scored in one edition).
Will England be relying on the pair again in the semi-finals against Argentina or will others step up?
1. Will it be France or Spain?
Will France reach a third successive World Cup final or will Spain move closer to world domination after their European Championship triumph two years ago.
Either way, the winner of this blockbuster clash will head into the World Cup final as favourites.
The semi-final has already been billed as a showdown between arguably the tournament's best attack and the best defence, with France having scored 16 goals and Spain having only let in one.
Spain have had the upper hand the last two times they met, both incidentally in semi-finals.
La Roja were 2-1 winners in the Euro 2024 semi-finals against France on route to lifting the trophy, while they were 5-4 victors in the last four of the Nations League last June.
Neutrals will be hoping for similar entertainment in the World Cup semi-final.
France were beaten by Spain in the Euro 2024 semi-finals and will be out for revenge in Dallas

2. Mbappe vs Yamal
Lamine Yamal turned 19 on the eve of the semi-final but the teenager will carry a lot of Spain's hopes heading into the blockbuster clash.
He became the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history back in 2024, netting at just 16 years and 362 days to level their semi-final with France. A deflected Dani Olmo effort ultimately proved the difference on that occasion.
Yamal also scored twice in Spain's 5-4 win last year.
The winger has been quiet by his standards so far this World Cup, potentially hampered by a long spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury heading into the tournament. But can he step it up on the biggest of stages?
By contrast, Mbappe was arguably hindered by having to wear a mask to protect a broken nose during the 2024 Euros semi-final.
There have been no such problems at this World Cup, having scored eight goals to lead the charts alongside Lionel Messi.
Yamal has been on the winning side of seven of the 10 meetings against Mbappe for club and country, but the Frenchman with fancy his chances in Dallas.
Lamine Yamal will be hoping to inspire Spain to reach the World Cup final

3. What will be said in the final England and Argentina press conferences?
The countdown towards Wednesday's huge second semi-final continues. From an English point of view they will conduct one more training session at their Kansas City base before a recovery one, and hope everyone fit comes through unscathed.
They then take a two-hour flight to Atlanta - the scene of their round of 32 win over DR Congo.
Tuchel and three of his players will then travel to the Atlanta Stadium to speak to the media, where the world will await their thoughts.
