According to Fabrizio Romano,
Manchester United
have withdrawn from a deal to sign
Éderson
from
Atalanta
after medical checks, cancelling the transfer. The former Corinthians midfielder will remain in Italian football.
United had tracked the Brazilian for several months, and the clubs had agreed a fee of about 38 million pounds, roughly R$ 260 million.
With the move off, Corinthians miss out on around R$ 2.36 million, equivalent to 1% via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, for training the player between ages 20 and 22.
Atalanta consider
fully fit and are waiting for him to rejoin the squad, after United changed course for this window.
Éderson joined Corinthians in 2020 after terminating his Cruzeiro contract and stayed until 2021. He made 25 appearances and scored three goals, then was loaned to Fortaleza before a sale to Salernitana for 6.5 million euros, about R$ 39 million at the time.
Corinthians held 70% of his economic rights and received roughly R$ 27 million from that deal. His form in Italy earned a move to
, where he has established himself among the leading midfielders and regular standouts in the Italian league.
