The Premier League free agents Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham could sign right now

The transfer window shut on Tuesday night, yet Swansea City, Cardiff City and Wrexham can still recruit from the Premier League free agent market.

Swansea spent around £23 million and made 11 signings, including wingers Joseph Opoku and Elijah Just and midfielder Moussa Yeo. Wrexham’s outlay was about £34 million as Anthony Patterson, Jacques Ekomie and Callum O'Hare arrived. Cardiff added Nathan Trott, Calum Scanlon, Jack Moylan and Krystian Bielik, then had a frustrating deadline day without a further deal, according to Wales Online.

A number of top-flight players remain unattached after deadline day. Some, such as Jadon Sancho, will be looking to stay in the Premier League, but there appear to be more realistic targets for the Welsh clubs now or later in the season.

Veteran defenders Willy Boly, Nathaniel Clyne and Seamus Coleman are yet to retire and could seek one last challenge. Others with strong Championship pedigree include Jamie Allen and Kortney Hause, with Allen having made 193 appearances in the division.

There is also a familiar name for Swansea in Rhys Williams, the ex-Liverpool centre-back who made a handful of appearances on loan in 2021/22. Former Wales U21 right-back Niall Huggins is available after leaving Sunderland.

The current Premier League free agents include Adam Webster, Tyrell Malacia, Emil Krafth, Yves Bissouma, Jadon Sancho, Bertrand Traoré and Solly March.
