“Arriving tonight” – Romano confirms Amorim will sign £37m star who ruined his Man Utd debut
Former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is about to welcome a Premier League forward to his AC Milan squad.
The 41-year-old had a turbulent 14-month reign at Carrington that included a 15th-place finish in the Premier League table and a lost Europa League final against Spurs.
The Portuguese manager was sacked in January after a public rant against Man Utd’s hierarchy in the aftermath of a draw at Elland Road.

In November 2024, Amorim made his Man Utd bow in a Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
Marcus Rashford, who became an outcast at Amorim’s court shortly afterwards, had incidentally opened the scoring in the second minute, giving the Portuguese manager a dream start.
However, the afternoon was blemished by Omari Hutchinson, who scored a fabulous equaliser on the stroke of half-time. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
At the end of the season, the Tractors were relegated to the Championship, so Hutchinson ended up sealing a £37 million move to Nottingham Forest.
Nevertheless, the left-footed winger had seemingly made a lasting impression on Amorim, who sanctioned his arrival at Milan.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Chelsea academy product is expected in Italy on Sunday evening to finalise his transfer prior to Tuesday’s deadline.
Amorim has yet to sign any players from Man United
While the general outcome was negative, Amorim still had his moments at Man Utd, and he remains appreciated by the majority of the squad, as evidenced by the warm embraces following the club’s recent friendly against Milan.
In fact, a few MUFC stars were able to take their game up a notch under the outspoken Portuguese, chiefly Amad Diallo.
Therefore, the Ivorian was one of several United players who were linked with a switch to San Siro this summer to reunite with Amorim.

Noussair Mazraoui and Mason Mount were also mentioned as potential targets for the Serie A giants.
But with just over 48 hours separating us from the deadline, no Man Utd player appears to be heading to Milano.
