Leandro Trossard’s agent has claimed that the Belgian could end up staying at Arsenal , which could scupper a deal for Christos Tzolis. Trossard, 31, was thought to be on the verge of a move to Turkish side Besiktas this summer.

It was reported that Besiktas would pay around €18m (£15.3m) for his services, with personal terms having also been agreed. A deal was apparently set to be rubber-stamped after the World Cup.

But it appears that a move isn’t as close as first thought. According to the winger’s agent Dirk Hebel, he has yet to make a decision on his long-term future, while staying at Arsenal does not appear to be out of the question.

“I can confirm that Besiktas did everything they could to sign Leandro Trossard ,” he said in an interview with Sky in Germany . “However, no decision has been made yet.

“Leandro has all the offers on the table and will make his decision soon. He is a world-class player with several options, including staying at Arsenal.”

Should Trossard end up staying, it could put the Gunners’ move for Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis in doubt. The Greek forward is seen as an ideal replacement for Trossard, with a deal worth £35m having already been thrashed out.

Tzolis, 24, scored 22 goals for Club Brugge last season. Trossard in the meantime scored eight times for Arsenal as they claimed the Premier League title, while the forward also netted twice in Belgium ’s run to the World Cup quarter-finals.

Away from Trossard and Tzolis, Arsenal have also been given an update regarding a move for Julian Alvarez. The Gunners have long-term interest in the Argentine forward but are competing with Barcelona to sign him.

Barca president Joan Laporta has confirmed that while his side’s offer remains on the table, it has a deadline attached to it.

He said: "We've made an offer that isn't unlimited, and in due course we'll announce how long the offer remains on the table.

"The offer was made with the intention of signing a player who appeals to both the sports management and the coach. I think he's a great player; we're maintaining the substantial offer, but the validity of this offer is not unlimited."

Arsenal's move for Bruno Guimaraes is also in doubt, having been led to believe that he was potentially available for around £50m but that no longer appears to be the case.
