Aston Villa announce arrival of Leon Goretzka

Aston Villa have announced the signing of midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer.

The German international has been a free agent through the summer after his contract with Bayern Munich expired. Goretzka had spent the previous eight seasons with the German giants, winning seven Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokal trophies, and the Champions League.

Now the 31-year-old is set for a new challenge after signing his contract with Unai Emery's side, with the club yet to reveal details of his contract.

Last season, Goretzka played 48 times in all competitions for Bayern, starting 27 of those games, and chipped in with five goals and five assists.
